RAMKUND WATERFALLS IN & AROUND NASHIK A sacred bathing ghat in Nashik, Ramkund is situated at the banks of the Godavari River, which becomes the venue to host the spectacular Kumbh Mela where millions take the famous Kumbh Snan or bath. This is considered to be the holiest place in Nashik and is surrounded with folklores and various mythological stories. Near this pond is the "Asthivilaya Tirtha". In fact some of the finest wineries and vineyards are located here with Sula Vineyard being the first winery established in the city and it is also one of the most famous places to visit. The history of the vineyard goes back to 1999, when it initially began operations. Some of the other vines produced here are Soma, York, Nipha, Grover Zampa, Indus vines etc. Nipha and Grover Zampa vines are internationally renowned. TRIMBAKESHWAR TEMPLE One of the most popular places of worship in Nashik. Trimbakeshwar is one amongst the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India. The extraordinary feature of the Jyotirlinga here is its 3 faces embodying Lord Brahma, Vishnu & Rudra. Kushavart Tirtha is situated at the heart of Trimbakeshwar town. The Kumbhmela occurs at an interval of every 12 years, on the banks of sacred river Godavari, at the Trumbakeshwar temple. The temple at the base of the Bramhagin mountain with several small temples nearby is one of the best tourist places in Nashik PANDAV LENI CAVES One of the most iconic tourist spots in Nashik, the Trirasmhi Leni Caves comprise of 24 ancient rock-cut caves that give an enthralling experience to all the adventure and thrill seeking enthusiasts. As the caves are situated on a hammock, mountaineering and trekking are some of the adventurous activities offered here for the tourists. Legend says that the Pandavas made these caves to hide away from their enemies and relatives and spent some time here. It is also known as Trirashmi Caves. SAPTASHRUNGI TEMPLE Popularly known as one of the 'three and a half Shakti Peethas' of Maharashtra, the Saptashrungi temple is situated at 4659 feet above sea level. It is also one among the 51 Shakti Peethas located on the Indian subcontinent and is a location where one of Sati's limbs, her right arm are believed to have fallen. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Saptashrungi and is surrounded by seven (sapta in Sanskrit) peaks (shrunga in Sanskrit), hence the name Saptashrungi Mata (mother of the seven peaks). CUISINE Nashik is known as the city of Grapes. Hence, its grapes, wines, raisins are quite popular. The missal and Nashik chivda are relished by people here.
